Eleanor

Photographs and essays from a year between harbors.

The first book from the Press is a hardcover of photographs made across twelve months at sea and on foot. It begins in Vermont at the edge of winter, carries through the Mediterranean in summer, and ends in a harbor in northern Japan in the first hour of a morning that did not feel like any other morning. A short essay sits between each run of pictures. They are not captions. They are notes, mostly.

Notes from the Press

We write about what we are making when there is something worth writing about. Never a blog. Usually a paragraph.

The linen has arrived from Jena. It is the colour of a cold morning in January, and it is perfect. The printer will begin proofing the plates in May. We hope to ship the first box the week of the solstice.

Eleanor is 184 pages. It was 212 last week. The book is better for the twenty-eight pages we cut. A book is not the pictures you made, it is the pictures you kept.

A second book is already beginning to find its shape. It is small, square, black and white, and concerned almost entirely with weather. A few years away.
